Non-Dom Status Can Now Be Extended to 27 Years

The 2026 reform introduced an optional extension for long-term non-doms. After the initial 17-year period, eligible individuals whose domicile of origin is outside Cyprus may choose to extend their SDC exemption.

How the extension works

  • Two further five-year periods are available
  • Each period requires a lump-sum payment of €250,000
  • The maximum exemption period is 27 years

This gives long-term residents a way to plan ahead, although the terms and eligibility conditions should be reviewed carefully before making a decision.
